ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will address the nation Friday evening in which he will reveal details of a commission to probe the Panama Papers leak, local media reported.
According to details, sources at the PM House said the prime minister will take the nation into confidence on details regarding the government’s plan to address the situation arising after revelations in the Panama Papers.
They added that Nawaz may announce the writing of a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, in which the government will request him to nominate a serving Supreme Court judge to head the commission.
The decision was taken in a consultative meeting at the PM House on Thursday that was attended by members of the federal cabinet, advisers and special assistants.
Sources said the prime minister took them into confidence on his recent ailment and plan of action on the investigation into the Panama Papers, a massive leak that revealed offshore assets of influential people.
